Good morning, 12s. Here’s a look at what’s out there today – Tuesday, August 30 – about your Seattle Seahawks.

Brookstone School in Georgia Names New Stadium After Seahawks Legend Mack Strong

Seattle Seahawks Legend Mack Strong spent 14 seasons with the franchise, earning a spot on the franchise’s 35th Anniversary Team. The former All-Pro fullback created a legacy in Washington, but recently he received one of the highest honors in his hometown. This month, Brookstone School officials in Georgia announced that it will name its new stadium after one of its greatest legends on the field.

In 1987, Strong led the Brookstone Cougars to the Georgia High School Association Class A championship game as a sophomore running back. Strong graduated in 1989 after scoring 83 touchdowns, then went on to play at the University of Georgia. Brookstone would retire his No.22 jersey, which hangs in the school athletic center to this day. The stadium was built on the same space as the former facility.

Brookstone Board Chairman Billy Blanchard discussed the decision to name the stadium after Strong with the Ledger-Enquirer.

“Mack Strong exemplifies the core values that Brookstone School is committed to build in its students: loyalty, courage, wisdom, honor, service, respect, and leadership,” said Blanchard. “A common theme when people talk about Mack is his strength of character along with his athletic talents. Going forward, the Mack Strong Stadium will serve as a reminder of the goals set for the Brookstone athletic program and as a tribute to the player whose life embodies those values.”
