USC makes the New Year’s Six in 4 of 5 bowl projections after Week 1

The USC Trojans started things off right with a 66-14 blowout against Rice on Saturday afternoon.

Caleb Williams looked terrific, Jordan Addison hit paydirt, and Raleek Brown and Travis ran the football well in an easy victory.

The biggest story of all was the defense scoring three touchdowns, which is something nobody expected coming in. Moreover, Oregon and Utah losing hit the Pac-12 in a major way as far as playoff implications are concerned, and the bowl game landscape has changed quite a bit in the matter of one week.

Here are a few recent bowl game projections after the first full week of college football.

Brett McMurphy of The Action Network has an appealing matchup for the Alamo Bowl: Lincoln Riley against his former team, the Oklahoma Sooners. This matchup would have tons of storylines, although USC not making a New Year’s Six bowl would be somewhat of a disappointment.

Here we go. College Football News has the USC Trojans facing Alabama in a College Football Playoff semifinal game. Lincoln Riley vs. Nick Saban, the dynasty that is the Crimson Tide against the new-look Trojans. It’s early, but this is a good sign.
