Week 3 game predictions for the College Wire teams

The slate of games in Week 3 is inching closer and there are plenty of good matchups around the college football landscape.

As we have done each week, College Wire regional editor Patrick Conn makes his game picks for each team represented on the network. Among the matchups are two return matchups from last season. The Oklahoma Sooners head to Lincoln, Nebraska, for a date with the Cornhuskers. We also have the Penn State Nittany Lions travel to Jordan-Hare for a matchup with the Auburn Tigers. PSU has the 2-1 edge in the series.

There are also two top 25 games with the Miami Hurricanes facing Texas A&M and BYU heading to Eugene to face the Oregon Ducks. Let’s dive into the predictions for this week from Patrick.

For the 88th time in their history, the Oklahoma Sooners and Nebraska Cornhuskers will meet on the football field. OU won last year in Norman, 23-16. The last time they met in Lincoln, Nebraska, the Huskers won 10-3. With a new head coach on the sideline for the home team after Scott Frost’s firing, I don’t see them winning regardless.

Prediction: Oklahoma 27, Nebraska 24

Connecticut Huskies at No. 5 Michigan Wolverines

David Reginek-USA TODAY Sports

After thoroughly dismantling Hawaii, the Michigan Wolverines are set to host UConn at the Big House. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy is set to start his second-straight game after Cade McNamara started the opener against Colorado State. The throttling should continue this week against the Huskies.

Prediction: Michigan 49, UConn 13
