Florida football did not put up its best effort on Saturday night against the visiting South Florida Bulls. The in-state sister school from Tampa traveled to Gainesville and battled to the end in a 31-28 victory for the Gators.
Florida looked flat from the start and was bailed out early by a fumble that led to its first score, a field goal. After that, the two teams slugged it out, exchanging big plays while both managed to dominate on the ground preventing either from pulling away.
Despite taking a 11-point lead into halftime, Anthony Richardson tossed a couple of interceptions that kept USF in the game. Ultimately, the outcome came down to a potential game-tying field goal in the final minute. A bad snap and a bad hold on the kick doomed the Bulls to their third straight loss to the Gators.
