Thomas, Dotson give updates ahead of Week 7

Thomas, Dotson give updates ahead of Week 7

The Washington Commanders released their first injury report for Week 7 Wednesday, and it featured multiple notable starters on offense.

Quarterback Carson Wentz was on the list and could be placed on injured reserve this week. However, the Commanders want to get a better feel for how long he will be out before placing him on IR with a designation to return.

Wide receiver Jahan Dotson and tight end Logan Thomas missed last week’s game against the Chicago Bears. Both players also missed the Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans. The Commanders missed both players, particularly in the red zone. You noticed each player’s absence the most on Washington’s final drive against the Titans that ended with an interception.

Could Thomas and Dotson be on track to play Sunday?

Dotson went through individual drills in the open part of practice while Thomas worked on a side field with trainers. John Keim of ESPN captured this video of Dotson.

After practice, Keim caught up with both players, who gave their prognosis ahead of Sunday’s game.

Thomas said his calf was feeling “better every day,” while Dotson said he “feels good.” Both players were noncommital about Sunday, which is to be expected with two more days of practice this week.

Dotson certainly looks good, but hamstrings are so tricky. Getting both players back against Green Bay would be a big boost for new quarterback Taylor Heinicke.
