Utah Athletics Graduation Success Rate Remains at 93 Percent, Tying for Fourth Among Power Five Public Institutions


SALT LAKE CITY – Ninety-three percent of student-athletes at the University of Utah graduated within six years of enrolling, according to the latest NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GRS) released today. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Utah’s score has met or exceeded the 93-percent benchmark.
 
Utah’s 93 percent rate is tied for the fourth-highest figure among Power Five public institutions and is tied for the sixth-highest score among all institutions at the Power Five level.
 
“We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes for maintaining academic excellence and earning degrees at a rate that ranks among the highest in the country,” said Utah Athletics Director Mark Harlan. “I also want to thank our coaches and staff for continuing to identify the best and brightest in the recruiting process and placing a high priority on academic success for their student-athletes. We are grateful for the tremendous work of our academic services department, and the relationships with our campus partners who play such a strong role in ensuring academic success for our students.”

Utah’s overall GSR is tied for second in the Pac-12 Conference behind Stanford, which came in at 96 percent. The Utes led the Pac-12 or tied for the lead in six conference-sponsored sports: Baseball, men’s basketball, men’s tennis, women’s basketball, gymnastics, women’s tennis and volleyball. Those six are among 10 Utah athletics programs who achieved a perfect (100%) GSR score: Baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, gymnastics, lacrosse, men’s skiing, women’s skiing, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and volleyball.

 

Other notes of significance:

  • Both the gymnastics and women’s tennis teams have had perfect scores all 18 years since the GSR was introduced in 2005.
  • Men’s tennis has earned a 100 percent score for the 13th consecutive year.
  • Volleyball has earned a perfect score eight consecutive years.
  • Men’s basketball has achieved 100 percent six years running.
  • The football program has eclipsed 90 percent in each of the last five years and its 90% score for 2022 is tied for second in the Pac-12. 
  • Ten Utah teams equaled or improved their GSR score from last year, while 12 programs reported scores equal to or higher than their respective NCAA…
