Not that the Tar Heels don’t try to do this, but there needs to be more of a point of emphasis to get some of their playmakers going early.

In the past few games, getting Josh Downs the ball in open space has been few and far between… and that’s where he’s at his best. In the last two games, he has just 82 yards after four straight games of at least 100 yards and three games with at least 125.

Downs also has no touchdowns in the last two weeks.

As for Antoine Green, the deep play threat hasn’t been able to get the ball downfield, While he had eight catches last week, he averaged just 8.4 yards per catch, the first time below 10 yards a catch in a single game this year.

Green averaged 19.6 yards per catch this season and that number had been closer to 23 before last week. His best ability is stretching the field, but there hasn’t been a huge emphasis on seeing some of his routes through.

There is a reason this UNC offense was so difficult to stop and that was stretching the field with Green and creating numerous over the middle and out in space routes for Downs. Neither have happened the last few weeks.
