Billy Kemp – WR (Virginia)

Billy Kemp – WR (Virginia)

Kemp was slated to enter the NFL draft as his eligibility was exhausted after the Cavalier’s 2022 season. However, due to the on-campus shooting of three football players that cut their season short, the NCAA granted UVA seniors an extra year of eligibility due to canceling the last couple of games.

What the Cornhuskers will be getting in Kemp is a mid-level receiver who can get you 500 to 600 receiving yards but will also give you a return threat. Kemp’s time at Virginia saw him see more returns for the punt team rather than kickoff. Even though he has yet to return a punt for a score, he can help better field the offense if needed, but will likely just be employed as a receiver only.

At Virginia, Kemp totaled just over 1,700 career yards and was headlined by his 2020 and 2021 seasons, where he went over 600 and 700 yards, respectively. In both years, Kemp averaged over nine yards per catch and tallied 14 combined scores. 2022 didn’t fare as well as Virginia was poor in general and saw their season tragically cut short.
