Two Super Bowl rings. Two Super Bowl MVP trophies. Two Emmy awards?
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recently announced the nominees for the 44th Annual Sports Emmy Awards, and Eli Manning is once again up for an honor in the Outstanding Personality/Emerging On-Air Talent category. The legendary Giants quarterback didn’t take home the individual award last year, but “Monday Night Football with Peyton & Eli” won for Outstanding Live Series. “Eli’s Places,” which is done in conjunction with ESPN+, NFL Films, and Omaha Productions, has also been nominated again for Outstanding Hosted Edited Series.
This year, Eli’s competition is Andraya Carter (ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, SEC Network), Robert Griffin III (ESPN), Greg Olsen (FOX), and JJ Redick (ESPN, ESPN2, ABC). Peyton is up for Outstanding Personality/Sports Event Analyst, taking on Cris Collinsworth (NBC), Gary Danielson (CBS), Bill Raftery (TBS, CBS, TNT, truTV), and John Smoltz (FOX, FS1).
Since his retirement following the 2019 season, the world is discovering what teammates have long known: Eli is pretty damn funny.
