David Reese Named Bednarik Player Of The Week



David Reese added to his honors Tuesday when he was named the Bednarik Player of the Week.


Senior Adds To Earlier Pac-12 Defensive Lineman Of The Week And PFF College All-Defensive Team Selections

BERKELEY – California football’s David Reese has been selected as the Week 13 Bednarik Player of the Week after his three-sack performance in Cal’s 33-7 win at UCLA last Saturday. Reese joins Evan Weaver as the only Cal players to earn the weekly recognition, with Weaver winning it for his performance at Ole Miss in 2019.

Cal (6-6, 4-5 Pac-12) won its final three games to become bowl-eligible for the first time since 2019 and will learn which bowl it will be selected for Sunday.

David Reese, EDGE, 6-2, 240, R-Sr., 6th Collegiate Season/1st Season At Cal (Fort Pierce, FL/Florida/Vero Beach HS/Fort Pierce Central HS)

– Earned Bednarik Player of the Week and Pac-12 Defensive Lineman of the Week honors and was named to the Pro Football Focus College Defensive Team of the Week after posting career-highs of 3.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks (-23 yards) among his four tackles at UCLA; also had one forced fumble and a 91.7 defensive grade from PFF

– Has contributed career highs of 31 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks (-58 yards), three forced fumbles, two pass breakups and four quarterback hurries, with the tackles for loss, tackle for loss yards, sacks, sack yards and forced fumbles all either team highs or sharing the team lead
