Buckeyes make free agent boom or bust list

Matt Okada of NFL.com has released his list of top 15 boom-or-bust players set to hit the free agent market, and two former Ohio State football greats made the list.

This list isn’t necessarily something to be proud of making, but the two former Buckeyes were such stars during their days in Columbus, I thought it would be interesting to bring to light.

The first Ohio State player listed is J.K. Dobbins, who most fans will remember due to his All-American efforts while in college. Dobbins also showed flashes of dominance in the NFL after being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. However, he has been plagued by injuries since arriving in Baltimore. As Okada points out, if a team can sign a healthy 25-year-old Dobbins, he could be a star.

Chase Young is also listed on this list. In my opinion, he is a lock to be a boon for a lucky franchise next season. Every Ohio State fan remembers Young and his All-American efforts in Columbus, but he, like Dobbins, has struggled with injuries. Young was drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft by Washington, but he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers during this past season and was a tad underwhelming. Young was lights out during his rookie season. The hope is he can regain some of that magic with his next team.
