Two Longhorns land in first round of Pete Prisco’s latest mock draft

‘Texas football dominated the NFL Combine’

The 2024 NFL draft is just two weeks away.

Over a handful of Longhorns are expected to be selected within the first three rounds. Two of Texas’ star players from last season are commonly projected in the first round.

Defensive tackle Byron Murphy is widely viewed as Texas’ top draft prospect and the No. 1 interior lineman in the class. Over the last several weeks, multiple mock drafts have Murphy landing with the Cincinnati Bengals at pick No. 18.

CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco is on board with that potential destination for Murphy as well. Here’s what Prisco had to say about Murphy’s projection in his latest NFL mock draft.

They lost D.J. Reader in free agency, so there is a hole in the middle of their defense. Byron Murphy II is a quick, penetrating player like Justin Madubuike of the Ravens.

Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell was also mentioned in the first round of Prisco’s mock. Mitchell lands with the Buffalo Bills at No. 28. Prisco cited the trade of Stefon Diggs as a reason to target the bigger-bodied wide receiver in the first round.
