Michigan Panthers Sign QB Bryce Perkins, E.J. Perry To IR

The Michigan Panthers have lost starting QB E.J. Perry for the season. This has led to the team signing Bryce Perkins, filling that third signal caller position prior to week five’s matchup against Memphis.

For the Panthers, losing Perry for the year is a tough pill to swallow. He went down with a hamstring injury in their game against San Antonio, and while he tried to stay in originally, it turned out that the injury was “more severe than expected” according to HC Mike Nolan.

Perry joined Michigan late last year, helping lift them to the playoffs. This year, E.J. had an up and down outing through four weeks. His offensive line did not give him much protection, which didn’t help. Perry finished the year with 664 passing yards, and two touchdowns, to three interceptions. On the ground, E.J. was lethal. He led the UFL with four rushing scores, totaling 151 yards.

Enter Bryce Perkins. The Panthers need a playmaker to come in to attempt to replace E.J., and Bryce is the prospect who has the potential to accomplish that. He began his college career at Arizona State, but hardly saw playing time. In 2017, he went to Arizona Western JC, tossing 7 touchdowns alongside 1,311 passing yards.
