With injuries in the secondary – specifically Chris Jackson – the Birmingham Stallions have made an addition. Safety Juju Hughes has signed with the team, bolstering a unit that could use some assistance as we hit the midway point of the UFL season.

The Stallions as a whole have one of the top defenses in the UFL. Their secondary has been fantastic, but with Jackson now on IR, Hughes brings some depth that is needed.
JuJu Hughes played his college football at Fresno State. He was a monster, totaling 247 tackles, a sack, and seven interceptions during his time there. During his Junior season, Hughes earned Second-Team All-Mountain West Conference honors, after recording 78 tackles, 8 PBU’s, and a conference-leading four interceptions.

With the numbers he put up in college, Hughes was on the radar of multiple NFL teams. JuJu was signed as an UDFA by the Los Angeles Rams in 2020. He played in a couple of games that year, posting three tackles.
When JuJu went to the Detroit Lions in 2022, he saw some legitimate playing time. He saw action in seven games, compiling 18 tackles and a sack.
Most recently, Hughes was with the Arizona Cardinals this past preseason. He totaled four tackles during the span. Now, he’ll look to continue his professional career in the UFL, with the Birmingham Stallions.
You gotta love CBs who are damn good in run support. Fresno State CB JuJu Hughes is a beast in run support. Aggressive and a sure tackled. pic.twitter.com/0TD6cJtOhj
