In a rather surprising move, the San Antonio Brahmas have signed RB Pooka Williams Jr. The name might sound familiar, because Pooka was a member of the DC Defenders for the last couple of years.

With the release of Brycen Alleyne, it appears that the Brahmas have looked to Williams to help fill that role. Alleyne was primarily utilized as a kick returner. Pooka has quite a bit of experience at that position, returning kicks for DC since 2023.
Last year, Pooka returned 10 kicks for 273 yards in the XFL. This year, he returned five kicks for 122 yards – but was surprisingly released a few weeks ago. Pooka never got an opportunity to carry the football much with the Defenders.
Pooka Williams was electrifying in college at Kansas. He rushed for over 2,100 yards and 72 touchdowns during his time there. This led to an NFL stint with the Cincinnati Bengals.

After playing in only one game this year (interestingly enough, against San Antonio), DC moved on from Pooka. The San Antonio Brahmas are looking for a spark offensively after a rather dormant performance against the Defenders this past weekend. We’ll have to see if Pooka can provide the team with exactly that.
This week, the Brahmas will face off against the Houston Roughnecks, looking to improve to 5-2.
