The Lead
Alex Singleton is known for big hits.
The high-volume tackler has made a slew of plays from the center of Denver’s defense, and he plays a physical brand of football.
For a recent Mile High Sports feature, though, Singleton traded his shoulder pads for golf clubs and a trip to Fossil Trace Golf Course.
Singleton joined 2023 U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark as one of the cover athletes for Mile High Sports’ golf issue, and he detailed his interest in the game.
“I would say for me, right now, it’s 100 percent social,” Singleton said in the story. “I play it to get away from football, but still be around the guys – just not talking football. I love the sport, but I’m not to the point where I want to get lessons and focus on it. Right now, it’s just something to go hang out with the guys, hit some golf balls and just have a good time.”
Singleton also described his inaugural trip to Augusta National for the Masters Tournament, shared his favorite courses in Colorado and lamented his urge to hit the ball as hard as possible on every shot.
And though Singleton said he’s still aiming to break 100 for the first time, he holds plenty of belief in his game each time he steps on the course.
“When I wake up, if I’m going to go golfing, I assume I’m going to shoot par,” Singleton said.
