Chris Rossetti, Dennis Hickey, Mike Derice, Scott Hamel join Giants' personnel department

Hickey comes to the Giants from the Buffalo Bills, for whom he was a senior national scout from 2017-21, a tenure that mirrored Schoen’s time with the team. Schoen and Hickey first worked together when Hickey was the Dolphins’ general manager in 2014-15.

Hickey joined the Dolphins after spending 18 years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including three seasons (2011-13) as the team’s director of player personnel. From 2004-10, he was the team’s director of college scouting.

Hickey joined the Buccaneers as a pro personnel assistant in 1996. After two years in that role, he spent three seasons as a college scout.

In 1994-95, Hickey was the defensive backs coach for Blinn Junior College in Brenham, Texas.

Hickey began his collegiate career as a safety at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas, where he was a captain and an academic All-American prior to becoming a three-year starter and letter winner at safety for the University of Tulsa. He graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in history/education.

Hickey and his wife, Stephanie, have one daughter, Breanna, and one son, Barrett.

Derice spent the previous 10 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, the last nine as an area scout with a focus on the Northeast region. He began his tenure in Indianapolis as a scouting assistant in 2012.

Prior to joining the Colts, Derice served as the director of football operations (2009-2012) and special assistant to the athletic director (2008-09) at his alma mater, Stony Brook University.

Derice played cornerback for the Seawolves prior to graduating with a bachelor’s degree in health care management. He is a native of Brooklyn.

Hamel comes to the Giants from the Chicago Bears, where from 2015-21 he was first an NFS (combine) scout and then an area scout in the Midwest (2017-20) and Southeast (2021).
