He may not factor into the starting lineup, but Dominic Deluca turned in a performance worthy of being a new fan favorite to root for in the Blue-White Game in the spring. Penn State’s linebacker situation in 2022 is worth a close examination. After losing two starters to the NFL from the 2021 roster, Penn State returns one starter with Curtis Jacobs (pictured above). Experienced safety Jonathan Sutherland has been converted to linebacker since the end of last season, beginning with the Outback Bowl last season, to provide some veteran leadership and physicality.

Penn State has Tyler Elsdon and Kobe King battling for the final starting job and each could be utilized this season in the defensive game plan. So where does DeLuca fit into the picture?
