There was a weird contradiction in the Oregon Ducks’ offense on Saturday afternoon against the Washington State Cougars.
Between the 10-yard lines, it was as good as we’ve seen it in years. Bo Nix was moving the ball, running lanes were wide open, and receivers were running loose downfield. Once things got into the red zone, though, particularly inside the 10-yard line, things stalled.
The Ducks got into that portion of the field four times in the first half on Saturday, settling for 3 field goals and throwing a pick-six. It’s safe to say that Kenny Dillingham and Oregon’s offense has a lot to work on in capping off drives with touchdowns this week.
Despite those struggles, the Ducks had a banner day, putting up 624 yards of offense and 38 points (Oregon’s defense got a touchdown late in the game). As we will every week, let’s take a look at where the Ducks’ offense ranks nationally in some key statistics.
